One Hour Personalized Website Review
Introducing a personalized, one-hour service from Elizabeth!
This is an email I often give people when they want the reviews.
I absolutely LOVE doing the one hour website reviews. From doing many of those, however, I realized I was repeating myself over and over because people don't have the basics of websites. I realized I have so much I could say but 1) an hour isn't enough, and 2) because I have no time to do personalized consultation/projects, the best way is for me to create a bunch of mini-experts is through my four part CD bundle. It will put you ahead of the vast majority of your colleagues! The bundle is $250 and my time is $120. If you do the bundle, I drop the personalized review to $90, as a way to incent people to "learn first, then ask me." I honestly do want everyone to be engaged, excited, and empowered to do their own websites! :-)
That said, I'm willing to do the hour review, which is a huge brain dump of whatever recommendations I have for you. My view is both SEO but also more general, hoping to give you ideas to 'convert' the current people who read your site. I also like to look at website traffic, which many people don't really know how to interpret.
The following is what I have in my mind as I go through your website. Some people only want content ideas so I give less attention to other areas. And this is PERSONALIZED so whatever your website shouts out to me is what I'm going to hone in on. I read every page of your website carefully.
Impression of your website, who is it for, how would someone navigate, are you "selling" your services well? Is it easy to navigate or do you have some really interesting articles/pages "buried" that you should bring forward to your homepage?
Web traffic - This could be it's OWN review. I find many people do not have web traffic set up, so we could work together to set it up then follow up a month later to do some analysis. Web traffic analysis gets under the hood to actually see where people are coming from to find your website and where people are going on your site. You may have a ton of articles but do you know what people are actually reading? Do you know what pages are attractive to people searching on the web? Web traffic can also help you see if you are actually getting traffic from websites that you link FROM (whether you paid for those links or they are colleagues or free listings.)
Search Engine Overview - do you have the "basics" set up on your website? Is your website organized in a way search engines like (as well as prospective clients?) I will provide you with the information you would give to your webmaster (what meta tags are, the actual code, and samples for what you need on each page.)
Sales and Marketing - Does your website make me want to buy or sign up for your service? Is it easy to get my questions answered and navigate the sign up or purchase? I find many people have "gem statements" hidden in somewhere that people would love to know about but would never find. Call it "branding", or self-promotion, but it's a good thing and I have the outsider eyes to know what sounds appealing. (Hint: nobody really cares if you have Ph.D. or where you went to school! They want to end their suffering or stress and want to know you can help them.)
Content Ideas - I might be able to give you ideas of other content that you could provide to help your audience (and help make your website "bigger", which the search engines love.) Sometimes it's simply expanding on what you have. Some people put a ton of information on one page when it should be broken out, or some people could greatly expand on what they say to the benefit of their reader.
